8 Month Update {A Personal Story}

WOW! 8 months have flown by already!!! What an incredible 8 months it’s been at that! Gastric Bypass was the BEST decision I’ve EVER made. It has LITERALLY saved my life! And not only that, it’s given me such an AWESOME quality of life to go along with my new life! I can’t help all the exclamation points, sorry….lol.

So this month my clothing size has pretty much been the same. Still a Medium in pants and size 12. And I’m TOTALLY cool with that. ;) I’ve had many other NSV’s. (Non-Scale Victory).

You probably remember me going on about how I CrossFit. And if you don’t… well… I CROSSFIT! lol. I started in August. Actually 2/8 will be my 6 month crossfit anniversary! (Maybe i’ll celebrate with burpees) Anyhow, this month I participated in my VERY FIRST CrossFit competition!!! Yes, you heard me right. Now I wasn’t planning on coming home with a medal or anything. I just wanted the experience and to have a good time with some people from my box. (Box = crossfit lingo for gym) Well…. I had a BLAST!!! And I didn’t come LAST… ;) Out of 118 women in my division I placed 87th! And in one of the events I placed 61st out of the 118 women! HECK YEAH!

Here’s some photos of me during my kick-ass WOD that my dear friend Maureen Vaccaro took for me. Nothing sexy here….lol.

I had such fun with that! And to think just a year ago I couldn’t even walk up and down my stairs without taking it one step at a time. UNREAL!! I thank everyone at Bravo CrossFit for the encouragement and support!

Seriously… CrossFit has changed so much for me. It’s changed my perception of what it is to be strong, confident and determined. It’s shown me what it is to encourage and support others. Its helped me push through mental blocks and shown me I’m much stronger mentally than I had ever know. There’s nothing like it ANYWHERE. In the photo below, is me the month I started crossfit and today. I wanted to photograph how my muscle tone changed. As you can see…. A LOT. Gastric Bypass doesn’t do THAT. Hard work and dedication does!

So…. this month I am down a total of 123lbs and not only that BUT…. I MADE IT TO ONEDERLAND!!!!! I am now under 200 lbs!!! Such an accomplishment! I haven’t been under 200 lbs since I’m 9! It just keeps getting better! And I’ll leave you with my before and current pics. It’s never too late to change your life!
